I was browsing the aisles of HomeGoods on Tuesday (avoiding the piles of laundry that were waiting for me at home), when I came across the dishes of my dreams!  Once I saw them I knew they would be perfect for my Spring table.

TIDBITS-&-TWINE---Creating-a-Spring-Tablescape

I don’t tend to use a lot of pastels, even at Easter, so I loved that these dishes have the more saturated versions of traditional Easter colors.  And given that I prefer the look of Casual Elegance, I have no hesitation mixing these more formal plates with my rustic wood table.  I actually like the contrast!

Even though the dishes have a gold rim on them, I decided to use my beloved antique flatware from Elsie Green so that the gold on the plates would be set apart from the rest of the table.

I picked a few azaleas from my garden and added them to egg cups to coordinate with the flowers on the plates.

The centerpiece is a mix of real and faux flowers.  I planted some dark pink freesia and variegated ivy in my ironstone soup tureen and then added a few silk hygrandeas to the mix.  I also draped a long blue necklace around and through the pot for an added pop of color.  {Your jewelry box is a great place to look if you need a small accent for a tablescape or even a vignette.  Why not put your costume jewelry to use when you’re not wearing it?!}

Provided I can keep the plants alive, our table is ready for Easter dinner!

Spring Break starts next week for my kids, so apologies in advance if next week’s posts are a bit sporadic.  :)

  4. This is just gorgeous, Kim! The dishes look like an old, established pattern. I love when people try different place to put the napkins. And mixing fresh and faux flowers? Have to try that!!

    I’m trying to get brighter with colors…really and truly! Especially with my outdoor dishes. I like melamine. My outdoor table at the lake is made of some type of stone so you can’t use real dishes. Crate & Barrel is having a huge sale on dinnerware right now if you are interested.

    C’mon over, Kim. I did a simple tablescape in this recent post as well! :)

      Hi Jane – I debated for a while in the store whether to buy these dishes or search for a vintage set with a similar pattern. But the fact that these were $3.99 and dishwasher safe sealed the deal. :) I’m stopping by now to take a look!

  5. Kim, your Easter table is gorgeous. I like your choice of plates and the white tureen filled with white hydrangeas is one of my favorite looks. Happy Easter and enjoy Spring Break with your children.
